WIP Wednesday: The Baby Girl Edition

My biggest accomplishment since my last WIP Wednesday post occurred on June 5 at 4:38 a.m. when I delivered my baby girl, Lila Ruth. She is delicious.
She is also a nursing fiend and a cluster feeder, which means that she is pretty much attached to me 24 hours a day. I've been recovering from labour for the last two weeks, so this hasn't had an impact on my sewing yet, but I'm praying that she'll learn to self-soothe and will detach herself from my breasts long enough to allow me some sewing time in the coming weeks.  Because my brain is buzzing with the list of projects I'd like to be working on.
In terms of garments, I've started a muslin for the Staple Dress and already have the fabric for the actual dress. I'd also like to make a knit dress with a stretchy neckline appropriate for breastfeeding.

From a quilting perspective, I want to finish the Tula quilt for Lila. The fabric is all cut and practically sewn. A few afternoons of serious stitching will get this quilt top pieced. I'm also enjoying chipping away at my Farmer's Wife blocks.
Finally, I'd love to make a new diaper bag. The one I have is a bit too big to fit in the undercarriage of our stroller. Noodlehead's new Super Tote pattern looks perfect, but is also a tad too big. My plan is print the pattern at 85% of the full size. A few other people have done this already with success.

  5. I'm going to break my one commenting rule (to not use the word cute) - because that baby is so cute. And big brothers with their little sisters are so cute too.

  7. Congratulations on the new baby! I think my brain was mush right after babies, not buzzing with ideas for sewing! Hope you are able to carve out a little time for yourself soon.

  8. I remember sitting at my sewing machine with a baby in the front pack. I've also got a photo of one of my babies wrapped up in the foot pedal cord as she rolled around on the floor (a wee bit older than 2 weeks of course). I think you're doing well to get any sewing done at all in the first two weeks and to have enough brain power to be thinking of new projects :0)
